What it is
The Marketplace inbox worker. Marketplace is the highest-volume, fastest-cooling inbox most stores have; the Inbox Agent works it from the facts on each vehicle's actual listing, through the day and the night shift, so no thread sits unanswered while the floor is busy with walk-ins.
What it does, day to day
- Answers Marketplace messages about specific listings: is it available, where is the store, can I see it today.
- Keeps every answer grounded in the actual listing — year, make, model, trim, and that vehicle's facts — never generic filler.
- Moves interested buyers toward a visit: confirms details, offers times, routes the thread to the store's team.
- Escalates ready buyers to the Sales Agent flow and the assigned rep.
A day with the Inbox Agent
Mid-morning, three Marketplace threads are open on the same truck. The Inbox Agent answers each from the listing facts. One buyer writes “can you call me?” — and the agent does not reply. That thread goes straight to the human, first, because the store's rule is that a buyer who asks for a call gets a person, not a bot.
Guardrails
The signature guardrail: a buyer who asks for a call, or says they are heading in, is handed to the human first — no reply. Facts come only from the listing and the Vault. Anything about a specific deal goes to a human.
What setup takes
Marketplace access for the store's listings, the listing feed to answer from, and the hand-off rules.
The agent's listing-fact training, the call / heading-in guardrail, and thread routing to the floor.
Marketplace threads get fast, factual answers around the clock, and hot threads land in human hands immediately.
How it connects
It works in the Marketplace lane of the Listing Engine, answers inside the Unified Inbox, and escalates ready buyers to the Sales Agent and the assigned rep.
